Becca: Classical Pose
Here is Becca in a very old-fashioned pose that could have been based on some figure by the ancient Greeks. There is even a Classical pedestal (Greek or Roman, I’m not sure) to complete the effect.
This piece began with vivid colors, but I toned the palette down to an almost monochromatic sepia. I have learned that bright color often distracts from the sculptural qualities of the subject: Form and color are friends, but argumentative ones.
Remarkably, historians now agree that the ancient Greek and Roman sculptures were actually painted in vivid colors. My guess that the sculptors were less than enthused about this.
