Body Image Issues and Social Nudism

Clothing covers up more than just skin; it covers up our insecurities, imperfections and provides a shield to the penetrating and judgmental looks of others. Many people, especially women, choose their clothing based on how well it conceals certain parts and accentuates others. For years, I made my wardrobe decisions based on how well a billowing skirt hid my hips, how a black shirt made me look slimmer from the side and how the right pair of jeans could somehow make my legs appear longer. I tossed aside those notions along with my clothes when I decided to pose nude with nearly 3,000 other people for a photography project in 2004.
